Does the fact that "Airplane" is in quotes mean to suggest that it smells like the movie?
No, sadly. what does the movie smell like, I wonder?
I just used the quotation marks to indicate that I'm a bit dubious about "airplane", itself, being a smell. So I'm quoting directly. I asked her for clarification, and she said the inside of an airplane cabin--recycled air--rather than, say, oil or engines or whatever the rest of an airplane smells like.
